3 Tips for Safely Sanitizing Your Car

Posted on May 26, 2020May 26, 2020 by Downtown Ford

With everything that’s happening in the world right now, there’s no better time to ensure that your car is free of germs. Follow these three tips to thoroughly sanitize your car and improve your peace of mind.

Put on disposable gloves. As you start sanitizing your car, make sure you put on disposable gloves. These gloves will not only protect your hands from any harsh chemicals, but they will also help prevent you from spreading germs throughout your car and possibly bringing them into your house. When you wear gloves, remember that you should only touch your car and cleaning supplies — avoid touching your face, phone, or any other surfaces.

Scrub everything down. From your dashboard and steering wheel to your shift knob and radio, there are a lot of hard surfaces in your car that can collect germs. Clean these surfaces either with disinfectant wipes or warm, soapy water, and pay particular attention to any hot spots for germs — especially places that you may have sneezed or coughed on.

Clean your soft surfaces. Your car’s upholstery and other soft surfaces can absorb a lot of dirt and grime, so make sure they get special attention when you’re sanitizing your car. Use upholstery cleaner on your seats and carpet cleaner on your floor mats to make sure that your car is as good as new.
