How to Get Your Car Ready for Winter

Posted on October 23, 2019October 23, 2019 by Downtown Ford
Get Your Car Ready for Winter - Toronto, ON

The weather is starting to get colder, which means one thing — snow is coming. To prepare, check out these tips to help get your car ready for winter driving conditions.

Use winter tires. In the winter, it can be difficult for your car to get great traction on icy and snowy roads. If you stop in at Downtown Ford, we can switch out your all-season tires for winter ones to give you the best traction possible.

Get ready. Emergencies happen. Are you ready for one? Make sure your car is ready for anything this winter with an emergency kit. Pack items like a shovel, a flashlight, a bag of sand, flares, jumper cables, ice scraper, and warm clothing to make sure you can handle anything the winter months throw your way.

Check your battery. Your battery’s efficiency will drop as the temperatures get lower. Make sure you don’t get stranded with a dead battery and check yours now. If it’s time for your battery to be replaced, then make sure you get a new one before it gets too cold.

Fill up on fluids. Keep your car’s fluid levels at the recommended levels. This applies especially to your windshield wiper fluid and your car’s antifreeze.
