For the first time in 55 years, Ford has decided to expand the Mustang family with its first-ever all-electric, Mustang-inspired SUV: the Mach-E.
The Mustang Mach-E SUV embodies the Mustang spirit, flaunting a sleek silhouette and muscular stance while providing unique driving dynamics and an exhilarating experience behind the wheel. The Mach-E will come available with standard and extended-range battery options, helping it target an EPA-estimated range of at least 475 km.
“The Mustang Mach-E wholeheartedly rejects the notion that electric vehicles are only good at reducing gas consumption,” said Hau Thai-Tang, the chief product development and purchasing officer for Ford. “People want a car that’s thrilling to drive, that looks gorgeous, and that can easily adapt to their lifestyle — and the Mustang Mach-E delivers all of these in unmatched style.”
The Mach-E will offer both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options. When equipped with the extended-range battery and rear-wheel drive, the Mach-E will be able to achieve up to 332 horsepower and 417 lb-ft of torque. It’s also targeting quicker times to 60 mph than the base Porsche Macan series when equipped with all-wheel drive.
Along with its battery options, the Mach-E will also have two special performance options. The GT model will surge 0-60 mph in under 4 seconds, while the GT Performance Edition targets a mid-3-second range and boasts an estimated 459 horsepower and 612 lb-ft of torque.
The all-electric Mustang Mach-E SUV will be available at Downtown Ford and other dealerships across Canada in late 2020.
