3 Ford Models Earn IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK Recognition

3 Ford Models Earn IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK Recognition | Toronto, ON

Ford puts safety first — and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) agrees. This prestigious safety organization recently awarded three Ford vehicles with TOP SAFETY PICK honors.

The 2021 Ford Explorer was one of 49 vehicles that earned the IIHS’s highest accolade of TOP SAFETY PICK+. The Explorer also earned this recognition in 2020, when only 23 models received this high accolade. Meanwhile, the 2021 Ford Edge and 2021 Ford Escape both earned the TOP SAFETY recognition for the second straight year as well.

“With these awards, we want to make it easy for consumers to find vehicles that provide good protection in crashes, sufficient lighting, and effective front crash protection,” said IIHS President David Harkey. “Manufacturers have stepped up to meet the challenge, and the list of great options has grown to an impressive size this year.”

To receive either TOP SAFETY PICK or TOP SAFETY PICK+, vehicles need to earn the highest possible “Good” rating in six crash-test categories: driver- and passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints.  They also must have front crash prevention technology that rate “Advanced” or “Superior.”

The TOP SAFETY PICK+ award goes to vehicles that have either an “Advanced” or “Good” rating for their headlights in all trim levels. For TOP SAFETY PICK, a vehicle’s lineup needs to have at least one set of headlights that rate “Advanced.”

2021 Ford Edge Gets a Tech Update

2021 Ford Edge in Toronto, ON

The 2021 Ford Edge is getting even more tech-savvy. This midsize SUV has received some updates for the newest model year, increasing your ability to keep connected on the go as you drive around Toronto.

For the 2021 model year, the Edge will come with a new standard 12-inch centre touch screen, which is the largest in its class. This easy-to-use display supports your ability to multitask by splitting the screen into larger and smaller windows. For example, if you want to keep your navigation map on the screen while changing songs, you can easily do so.

Along with this new touch screen, the Edge will have the SYNC® 4 infotainment system as standard. You won’t have to plug in your mobile device with this system, thanks to wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility.

SYNC® 4 uses all-new cloud connectivity, allowing you to easily access the latest information simply by asking your system a question. You can even access a new digital owner’s manual on your infotainment system’s touch screen, including streaming how-to videos and a searchable database for simpler troubleshooting

To keep all your passengers happy and powered up, the 2021 Edge also adds two more USB ports, including a USB-C, for a grand total of four.
