2021 Ford F-150 Adds New Tech for Easier Towing and Hauling

Ford F-150 tech in Toronto, ON

The F-150 has always been a pioneer for innovation in the pickup truck segment — and that’s not going to change any time soon. Ford recently announced that the all-new 2021 F-150 will come equipped with new high-tech towing and hauling features that make tough jobs easier.

“We’re constantly working to deliver a continuous history of capable, strong, and smart trucks designed to make the F-150 customer even more productive,” said Todd Eckert, Ford truck group marketing manager. “This summer we’re delivering three new features all about enhancing the F-150 customer experience, while delivering even greater confidence when towing and hauling.”

For the 2021 model year, the F-150 is debuting an available Onboard Scales feature. This technology allows you to understand just how much weight you’re hauling. It estimates cargo weight in real time, indicating capacity in three ways: on the centre touchscreen, on a mobile phone through the FordPass™ app, and in graphics on the truck’s smart taillights.

The F-150 will also come available with the class-exclusive Smart Hitch. This technology measures the tongue weight of a trailer that’s being connected, allowing you to distribute your trailer weight correctly and efficiently.

Another new F-150 is controlled damping, which enhances your ride experience and handling capabilities while hauling and towing.

These features are being added to the 2021 Ford F-150 lineup in early June, with deliveries set to begin in late summer. Contact us here at Downtown Ford in Toronto to learn how you can get an F-150 with these exciting new technologies.

3 Ford Models Earn IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK Recognition

3 Ford Models Earn IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK Recognition | Toronto, ON

Ford puts safety first — and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) agrees. This prestigious safety organization recently awarded three Ford vehicles with TOP SAFETY PICK honors.

The 2021 Ford Explorer was one of 49 vehicles that earned the IIHS’s highest accolade of TOP SAFETY PICK+. The Explorer also earned this recognition in 2020, when only 23 models received this high accolade. Meanwhile, the 2021 Ford Edge and 2021 Ford Escape both earned the TOP SAFETY recognition for the second straight year as well.

“With these awards, we want to make it easy for consumers to find vehicles that provide good protection in crashes, sufficient lighting, and effective front crash protection,” said IIHS President David Harkey. “Manufacturers have stepped up to meet the challenge, and the list of great options has grown to an impressive size this year.”

To receive either TOP SAFETY PICK or TOP SAFETY PICK+, vehicles need to earn the highest possible “Good” rating in six crash-test categories: driver- and passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints.  They also must have front crash prevention technology that rate “Advanced” or “Superior.”

The TOP SAFETY PICK+ award goes to vehicles that have either an “Advanced” or “Good” rating for their headlights in all trim levels. For TOP SAFETY PICK, a vehicle’s lineup needs to have at least one set of headlights that rate “Advanced.”

2021 Ford F-150 Mustang Mach-E NACTOY | Toronto, Ontario

The all-new 2021 Ford F-150 and Mustang Mach-E are two of the hottest vehicles in the Ford lineup today. They’re also two of the most-awarded, recently picking up a pair of 2021 North American Car, Truck, and Utility Vehicle of the Year Awards™. The double NACTOY win is just the latest example of the F-150 and Mustang Mach-E scoring side-by-side award wins.

Thanks to the F-150 and Mustang Mach-E, Ford pulls off a feat that hasn’t been accomplished in seven years. With the former winning 2021 North American Truck of the Year and the all-electric SUV nabbing the title of North American Utility Vehicle of the Year, Ford is the first to win two NACTOY awards in the same year since 2014.

It’s fair to say that the 2021 Ford F-150 and Mustang Mach-E are both on a hot streak. This dynamic duo both scored in Edmunds’ Top Rated awards, with the F-150 taking home Top Rated Truck and the Mustang Mach-E winning Top Rated Luxury EV. Both also came up big with Green Car Journal, which named the two its choice for Green Truck of the Year and Green Car of the Year.

The idea that the 2021 Ford F-150 and all-electric Mustang Mach-E shouldn’t be all that surprising. The F-150 is the strongest and most capable yet, offering up to 14,000 pounds of best-in-class towing.* With the Mustang Mach-E, Ford delivers an affordable, efficient, and stylish EV that lives up to the Mustang while delivering amazing range of up to 475 kilometres.**

Ford Debuts New Hands-Free Active Drive Assist Tech

Ford hands-free tech in Toronto, ON

You can now let Ford take the wheel out on the road. The automaker has officially introduced its new Active Drive Assist technology on the 2021 Ford F-150 and 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E, allowing for a hands-free driving on certain highways throughout North America.

On prequalified sections of divided highways — referred to as Hands-Free Zones — you will be able to take your hands off the wheel of your properly equipped Ford. You will be monitored by a driver-facing camera, which tracks your gaze and head position to ensure you’re paying attention and keeping your eyes on the road.

The technology will then adjust your steering and speed according to the road and traffic patterns, allowing you to take a break from being in control.

“As breakthroughs in new technology allow us to help reduce the stress of long highway drives, it’s important to make sure these capabilities can be enjoyed by the largest spread of people possible,” said Hau Thai-Tang, chief product platform and operations officer, Ford Motor Company. “Active Drive Assist can help improve the driving experience while ensuring people remain aware and fully in control, all for a price unmatched by our competitors.”

On the 2021 F-150, Active Drive Assist will come available as a part of the Ford Co-Pilot 360 Active 2.0 package. For the Mustang Mach-E, this feature will come standard on certain models.

The technology will be available in the third quarter of 2021 through Over-the-Air Update, which will help Ford improve vehicles over time and keep customers at the forefront of the industry.
